A growing place of
Pets in households
More than one-third of households in developed countries own a pet.
85 million European households have a pet. They occupy a growing place in households, so much that we speak of pet “parenthood” to describe the affectionate and protective relationships that unite owners with their pets.
A strong growth in
Petfood production
Pet food production is growing worldwide. Europe leads the way with 11.6 million tons (+2.7% compared to 2020), followed by North America (10.6 million tons, +12.7%), then Latin America (7.2 million tons, +7.7%). The strongest growth in pet food production was recorded in the Asia-Pacific region, which produced 3.81 million tons at a growth rate of 17.1%.
The strongest growth in pet food production was in the Asia-Pacific region, which produced 3.8 million tons in 2021, up 17.1% from the previous year.
Next are Africa and Oceania, each with a production of 450,000 tons, followed by the Middle East (75,000t).
More and more concerned about the health of their pets, pet owners are paying more attention to the composition of the products they buy and their nutritional virtues. As a result, feed products are increasingly segmented according to expected benefits but also according to breed, age, weight, etc.
